"Knowing China - Central Gansu Key Town" cultural experience concluded successfully in Baiyin City, Gansu Province, hosted by the China Scholarship Council and organized by Lanzhou University on October 21st. 40 international students from countries including Pakistan, Tailand, Vietnam participated in this practice.

The students first arrived at the Baiyin City Comprehensive Practice Base for Primary and Middle School Students, where they felt the hospitality amidst the spirited drumming of the local students. After that, students entered the practice base to experience local specialties such as, seal engraving, paper cutting, and tea art in groups. After the experience, the students visited the smelting workshop and product exhibition hall of Baiyin Company, where students were impressed by the workers' interpretation of the spirit of craftsmen in the new era amidst flying sparks.

In the afternoon, the students visited the Baiyin District Modern Agricultural Demonstration Park, gaining an understanding of the local distinctive planting methods and how traditional Chinese agriculture is enhanced with technology. Finally, the students visited the Gujiashan Village in the local new rural area, experiencing the construction of the new rural area and the consolidation and expansion of poverty alleviation achievements.

After the journey, the international students expressed that they gained profound knowledge and shared their heartfelt thoughts.

Li Yimei from Indonesia said, "I am very grateful to have the opportunity to participate in this trip. It not only let me to learn more about China but also about Chinese culture."

Xu Junhao from Thailand said, "I have experienced the aim of the Chinese government to serve the people, and at the same time, I deeply feel the charm and power of technological development, cultural exchange, and agricultural technology."

 

Liu Yuming from Uzbekistan said, "Baiyin, as an ancient and peaceful city, has a strong historical atmosphere and unique natural scenery. This trip has brought me a lot and has made me develop a strong emotional connection to the city of Baiyin."

 Feiling from Mongolia said, "China is the country best at preserving its own history and culture. In Baiyin City, we saw the customs left by ancient Chinese people and felt the efforts made by the Chinese people to protect nature, their own culture, and history."
