I.       Introductions

The Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship is aiming to train talents in global governance with an international mindset, excellent overall quality, outstanding leadership skills, and a multi-cultural background. In 2023, after the examination and evaluation by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education and the China Scholarship Council, 3 programs in Lanzhou University have been successfully selected in the 2023-2024 academic year.

l  The School of   Public Health of Lanzhou University was founded in 1959. Currently School has Public Health and Preventive Medicine program   in Master's degree and public health program in Master’s professional degree.   The   major of Public health and preventive medicine is a provincial key discipline.

l  The Master of   Public Health (MPH) of Lanzhou University was launched in 2010. In the past five years, it has trained 337 master's students. Currently there are 309 graduate students majored in public health, including 12 international students.

l  Graduates are suitable to work in the medical   health administrative department, health supervision, disease prevention and   control, maternal and child health care, hospital departments, community   health services, cooperative medical care, health education institutions. Public health professional programs has become the highland of public   health and preventive medicine personnel training, scientific research and   social service in China, especially in western China.

l  The ecology   program of Lanzhou University has a profound history and strong foundation.   The discipline ranking has always been at the forefront in China. It is one   of the national key disciplines and selected as the national "double   first-class" discipline project. The program aims to cultivate   professional talents with strong ecological awareness, high comprehensive   quality, and strong innovation ability, so that students will obtain a solid   systemic knowledge and practical skills and will be able to work in the   scientific research, teaching and management of ecological, environmental   protection, ecological planning and other related fields.

l  The main courses   include Theoretical Ecology, Population Ecology, Community Ecology, Soil   Science, Restoration Ecology, Crop Cultivation, Plant Physiology and Ecology,   Agricultural Water Resources Management, Literature Retrieval and Reading, Global   Change Biology, Agricultural Ecology etc.

Master Program of    International Relations

l  The School of   Political and International Relations of Lanzhou University has established   related research institutions such as the Central Asian Research Institute,   the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center, the Turkmenistan   Research Center, the Political Development Research Center, and the Science   and Technology Diplomacy Research Center. The International Political Major   include five directions: Political Science and Administrative, International Politics,   International Relations, Regional Countries, and International Organizations.   They have distinctive research directions and regional characteristics, and   have the cross advantages of multidisciplinary.

l  The program aims   to cultivate students' knowledge of basic theory of political science and   knowledge about international politics, international relations, and regional   countries. Understand the history, status and development dynamics of   politics, and master related research skills.

l  The main courses   include the Principles of Political Science, International Political   Introduction, International Political Economy, Introduction of Comparative Political   Science, Contemporary International Relations, Public Policy Analysis, and Political   Research Methods.

 

 

2. Training mode and duration:

The program adopts the ‘1+1’ mode. In the first academic year, applicants complete the full-time course study, research work, and dissertation preparation at Lanzhou University. In the second academic year, applicants return to their home countries to complete the dissertation in the light of their own professional work. They come to China to complete the dissertation defense as required. Those who pass will be awarded the degree.

II.   Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

1.   be non-Chinese citizens under the age of 45 and in good mental and physical health;

2.   be an academically excellent holder of a bachelors degree with 3-year related working experience (at minimum) ; those with professional study or working background related to the applied program are preferred;

3.   Applicants must be one of the following four categories:

Public officials at the division level (or corresponding level) or above in the government department of the host country;

Senior managers of institutions, enterprises, or other units;

Administrators of universities and research institutions;

Persons with relevant experience(s) in international organizations (full-time or internship).

IV.    Application Materials

1. Copy of the passport page of personal information

2. The Certified/Notarized Copy of Bachelor’s Degree's Diploma and Transcript

3. Two recommendation letters from the applicant’s employers and/or professors. Telephone numbers and email addresses of the referees must be included in the letters.

4. Employment verification

5. English proficiency certificates.

6.  Personal Statement/ Research Proposal (800 words and above)

7. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (completed in English or Chinese).  The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The result is valid for 6 months. Please bring the original with you when you arrive at school.

8. Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application. If the applicant is unable to provide this document, as a substitute, the applicant could sign a non-criminal record commitment (Attached).

Note: Scanned copies of the documents will be sufficient during the application period. Originals or verified copies will be required upon enrollment at university.

V.   Application Steps

1.  Applicants should provide materials by Email before 10th  April: interadmission@lzu.edu.cn,  LZU will provide eligible applicants with Pre-Admission Letter.

2.  Applicants should register at the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (http://www.campuschina.org) and upload application materials before 30th  April.

Note:  Applicants need to  submit the application materials including the Pre-Admission Letter. Please select "Type A" with the Agency number : 1563,  then select "Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship" for the applied program.

VI.    Review and Admission

1. The China Scholarship Council will conduct a preliminary examination of the application materials and organize experts to evaluate the applications, and the final admission result will be determined after the expert evaluation.

2. Each scholarship recipient can only receive funding from one Chinese Government Scholarship program.

3. If the scholarship recipient cannot come to study in China according to the admission deadline, the scholarship status will not be retained.
